Phi Lambda Beta
New Chapters

 Any college or university may petition the Director to receive authorization to establish a local chapter of Phi Lambda Beta. The college/university must offer a minimum of not less than three years of college-level Portuguese or equivalent.

Please check with the Phi Lambda Beta Director to learn about the additional requirements.

APPLICATION FOR AN INSTITUTIONAL CHAPTER

When applying for an institutional chapter, include the following information in your application.

1. Name of institution

2. Address

3. Name of department

4. Brief description of the Portuguese Program: Does the university offer a major/ minor/graduate classes in Portuguese? If not, how many courses can a student take at this institution?

5. Name of the faculty sponsor

6. Faculty members interested in applying for an institutional charter should contact the Director of Phi Lambda Beta to request additional information regarding the application process.

CHARTER AND INDUCTION FEES

Once the application for a chapter has been approved, the new chapter is charged a one-time activation fee of $25.00. At this time there are no induction fees for students into Phi Lambda Beta.
