Christy Presgrove
2019 Secondary School (9-12) Level Teacher of the Year
The AATSP Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award Secondary Level is Christy Presgrove who teaches at Greenbriar High School in Grovetown Georgia. Although she has taught Spanish for twenty years, her superintendent notes that Christy Presgrove’s “passion for students and foreign language acquisition have not waned in the least.
In fact, she seems to be more enthusiastic than ever!” Her colleagues concur that Christy is as “well-versed in travel, language, and culture” as she is “gifted in teaching skills” and that her students are always “exceptionally well prepared.” Christy partners with a nearby elementary school with her to students to present a “Holidays Around the World” program. For students and teachers alike, her love of teaching is “admirable and contagious.”
Her extensive professional service is evident from her strong record of presentations, as well as through her leadership in AATSP and on the FLAIR steering committee, where she has organized conferences and events graciously and tirelessly. Her Chapter president notes that as a mentor teacher, Christy “exemplifies all that we as language teachers strive to achieve.”
