National Teach Portuguese Week! 

MONDAY, OCTOBER 31 - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4 

National Teach Portuguese Week is a week-long event to be held Monday, October 31 - Friday, November 4. The program highlights student and faculty teaching and engagement with Portuguese language and culture(s) in the US and abroad.  

The purpose of National Teach Portuguese Week is 

1. To promote the teaching of Portuguese as a profession.
2. To encourage the study of Portuguese in the US.
3. To emphasize the importance of Portuguese as a world language.
4. To celebrate the diversity of the Portuguese-speaking world.

We are excited to announce that we are working with the Center for Brazilian Studies (CEB) at the Universidad de Salamanca on special events for our Portuguese teachers and lovers of Portuguese for our 105th AATSP Annual Conference (June 26-29, 2023). Explore all the resources offered by CEB including their broadcasts on Radio Universidad and their short story competition "Cuéntame un Cuento"

National Teach Portuguese Week 2022 will be co-chaired by Renato Alvim, Portuguese Representative on the AATSP Board of Directors, and Rachel Mamiya Hernández, AATSP President.
