The AATSP Chapter of the Year Award is presented to the chapter that demonstrates outstanding chapter professional development activities along with membership participation. A $500 honorarium for the winning chapter accompanies this award.

The 2016 winner of the Chapter of the Year Award is the Indiana Chapter. 

The Awards Selection Committee noted that the Indiana Chapter provides many outstanding activities for its 152 members and their students. The activities for teachers include professional development opportunities such as their Fall Workshops and presentations and lectures at Chapter meetings. The activities for students include the Día de Inmersión and the Concurso Estatal de Español para Indiana Middle y High Schools. In addition, the Indiana Chapter participates actively in the National Spanish Examinations and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, provides numerous awards for the membership, and maintains an active website.
