Session title: Public Humanities and Agents of Change in Luso-Hispanic Cultural Studies
The AATSP’s guaranteed session at the MLA Convention in January 2023 will explore the themes above. We seek 250-word abstracts for 10- to 12-minute papers on innovative public humanities projects and collaborative approaches in cultural studies in Portuguese and Spanish contexts. In what ways does Luso-Hispanic Cultural Studies offer pathways to greater common good and/or deeper relevancy? Topics may include, but not be limited to: creative economies, innovative horizontal and collaborative community-impact projects in Portuguese and Spanish PreK–16 programs and in Luso-Hispanic communities and contexts, creative approaches to the public sector and public life, social and environmental justice, and new approaches to practice and/or theory in public humanities from a Luso-Hispanic Cultural Studies lens.
