Dear Valued Teacher and AATSP Member, On October 1st, 2021, we released a letter discussing the dissolution of the NSE Chapters in 2022. In addition to our FAQ on the NSE website, we would like to provide you with clarification on the changes we are undergoing. What’s Staying? | What’s New? | National Competitions and Recognitions | Simple Flat Fee for National Exams | Scholarships forStudentsandTeachers | Concordia to include Portuguese Students | Medals (now sent through NSE) & Certificates | Enhanced NPE Format | State Percentiles, Reports to Teachers & Students | Improved Online Practice - Lingco | NSE Newsletter Emails | NSE is on Instagram! | US!!Our NSE National Office & Exams | Social Media Shout-Outs |
As a streamlining measure, the local NSE Chapter structure will be phased out by the end of 2022 and the “NSE Chapter Coordinator” will no longer be a paid position provided by the NSE National Office. As such, all bank accounts considered “Official NSE Chapter Accounts” and linked to the AATSP through our shared EIN provided by the IRS must be closed by December 31st, 2022. Actions for prior NSE Chapters: - ➢Collaborate with the NSE National Office to use remaining funds to honor students with outstanding achievements
- ➢Disperse all remaining funds to deserving students
- ➢Transfer remaining funds to your AATSP State Chapter bank account to be used for future academic recognition (as per the Chapter Guidelines)
- ➢Return unspent funds to the NSE National Office to be used for academic recognition
We thank you for understanding these necessary steps to support the future of the National Spanish and Portuguese Examinations, National Spanish Assessments, and National Spanish Challenge in this post-pandemic age. As always, we strive to support our diverse community of Spanish and Portuguese Teachers and Students - even more so in this post-pandemic world. We truly appreciate everything that you do for your students, teachers, and communities. We endeavor to build on the work of all those who forged the NSE into a celebration of academic achievement and move forward with a thriving example of excellence. ¡Todos a una! Todos por um! Sincerely, The NSE Staff Lisa Greenman - Director Wendy Simms - Coordinator Kat Zaborowski - Assistant info@nationalspanishexam.org Phone: 219-465-2100
