Job Opening Program Coordinator AATSP Chapters, Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad (SHA), Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) Full-time Position Do you want to join a dedicated team working to engage the multilingual members of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese? The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP)—the premier national association representing educators and language professionals of Spanish and Portuguese (K-16+)—is recruiting for a full-time twelve-month Program Coordinator. The AATSP seeks a dynamic, highly motivated and energetic individual to work closely with AATSP staff, language educators, administrators, and other professionals in the language education sector. The AATSP is looking for a self-motivated program coordinator to support, organize and help oversee our honor societies (SHH and SHA) and AATSP chapters. The program coordinator will use technology to work to establish and develop more automated processes to facilitate access to these programs to support busy teachers and professors of Spanish and Portuguese across the U.S. and abroad. The ideal candidate will possess superior organizational skills, professional English, and at least intermediate level proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese. The Coordinator will innovate and participate in efforts to grow member engagement through increased participation in the AATSP Chapters, SHA and SHH. General Responsibilities - Answers questions and assists members regarding three AATSP programs
- Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH)
- Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad (SHA)
- AATSP Chapters
- Processes forms and payments related to the above programs
- Updates records for the SHH, SHA, and AATSP Chapters
- Performs web postings to AATSP.org (site platform: YM YourMembership) related to SHH, SHA, and AATSP Chapters and to the SHH website (Wordpress.com)
- Provides the AATSP with detailed monthly (and final annual) report on SHH, SHA, and AATSP Chapters
- Anticipates needs and inquiries in service to our teacher-members
- Participates in marketing SHH, SHA, and AATSP Chapters to the membership
Sociedad Honoria Hispánica (SHH) - Understands policies and procedures of the SHH and communicates them to teachers
- Assists directors of chapter, teacher and student awards and scholarship programs
- Receives applications and enters statistical information into spreadsheets
- Responds daily to email and telephone messages
- Responds to social media posts related to the SHH and supports web presence
- Creates and maintains an electronic list of SHH chapter accounts
Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad (SHA) - Understands policies and procedures of the SHA and communicates them to teachers
- Responds daily to email and telephone messages
- Responds to social media posts related to the SHA and supports web presence
- Creates and maintains an electronic list of SHA chapter accounts
AATSP Chapters - Understands policies and procedures of the AATSP Chapters in relation to the AATSP National Office
- Receives and organizes annual reports from the AATSP Chapters
- Processes payments with the Director of Financial Services to the AATSP Chapters
- Assists with general communications to the AATSP Chapters
- Creates and maintains an electronic list of AATSP Chapters
Miscellaneous - Some travel (domestic and international) related to membership outreach (AATSP Annual Conference)
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS - Strongcommunication andinterpersonalskills especiallywith co-workers and educators
- Evidence of cultural literacy (knowledge and appreciation of Hispaniccultures)
- Demonstrate Spanish and/or Portuguese languageproficiency
- Educational level: college or university degree preferred
- Willing to work in teams with individuals located remotely
- Shows initiative in working independently and can take the lead
- Appropriate tone and presence on phone and in written email messages
