World Languages Summer Seminar Caring for Our World, Caring for Ourselves: Honoring Indigenous Voices
Date: July 15-20th, 2022
The new California World Languages Standards (2019) and Framework (2020) are the guiding principles to connect social emotional wellbeing and accelerate learning in world language and dual immersion classrooms. Participants will integrate authentic resources that support students to become resilient multilingual 21st century global citizens who: - Reflect on their own linguistic and cultural identities;
- Recognize and embrace diverse perspectives;
- Cultivate justice through agency, inquiry, and investigation;
- Take action to build a more just, linguistically and culturally sustaining global society (Social Justice Standards: The Learning for Justice Anti-bias Framework, 2018).
Join us at UC Santa Barbara for a healing journey. For five days in July, Summer Seminar will bring together world language and dual language immersion educators to learn together, to engage in self-care and, most importantly, to celebrate our commitment to remaining resilient during challenging times. CWLP resolves to center the strengths, values, languages, cultures and wellbeing of students, families, colleagues, and ourselves in order to amplify the learning of all California students.
