FIRST-TIME-ATTENDEE TRAVEL STIPENDS FOR AATSP CONFERENCE

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday, December 31, 2012 for attendance at the 2013 AATSP Conference

The AATSP offers ten (10) First-Time-Attendee Travel Stipends that are distributed in two categories. Five (5) stipends are available for current faculty members and five (5) stipends are available for graduate students. If one of the two categories falls short in the number of qualified applications received, then the Selection Committee may make additional awards to the remaining category.

Graduate Students (Regular Members) Up to five stipends of $500 each to help defer expenses to attend the AATSP Conference. Faculty (Regular Members) Up to five stipends of $500 each to help defer expenses to attend the AATSP Conference. Eligibility

1. Member of the AATSP at the time of application and for the Conference year
2. Teacher of Spanish and/or Portuguese, K-16
3. First-time attendee at an AATSP Annual Meeting
4. AATSP members are eligible to receive only one of the following: a summer scholarship OR a First-Time Attendee Travel Stipend OR a Junior-Senior Faculty Mentor Travel Stipend OR a Mead Travel and Study/Research Travel Stipend

 

Application

All materials must be submitted via e-mail with attachments.

Submit one copy of each of the following items:

A. Completed Application Form that includes information about:

1. Your teaching experience
2. Current position and classes taught
3. A statement of your teaching goals and how attendance at the AATSP Conference will help you meet those goals
4. A brief plan for how you will share ideas from the AATSP Conference with colleagues
5. Signature of a supervisor who verifies your
a. employment status (for faculty members)
b. OR graduate status (for graduate students)

B. CV (curriculum vitae or resume) Maximum two-pages in length

Responsibilities of Winners
1. Winners must attend the entire AATSP Conference.
2. Winners must stay in the AATSP Conference Hotel.
3. Winners must attend the annual Awards Banquet to be recognized as a recipient of the First-Time-Attendee Travel Stipend. The Awards Banquet will be held during the AATSP Conference in San Antonio, TX on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
4. After the Conference, winners must submit receipts for personal, conference-related expenses (transportation, hotel, conference registration, and meals) for up to $500.00 to Roberta Miller, Director of Financial Services, by August 15, 2013.
