AATSP CONFERENCE TRAVEL STIPEND

The AATSP offers three types of travel stipends to support attendance at the annual conference. There are awards for graduate students, K-12 and higher education faculty, including community college faculty. 

The AATSP offers travel stipends to support attendance at the annual conference. There are awards for graduate students, K-12 and higher education faculty, including community college faculty. These stipends are for first-time participants and mid-career faculty.

AATSP Conference Travel Stipends provide partial support for travel to our conference.
AWARD AMOUNT: $500


DESCRIPTION AND ELIGIBILITY

GRADUATE STUDENT MEMBERS
Applicants must be graduate students in a field related to Spanish or Portuguese and must never have attended an AATSP conference (prior to 2020). Stipend recipients will represent various geographic regions. For additional funding opportunities, please go our partner organization: National Federation of Modern Language Teachers Associations.

FACULTY MEMBERS
Applicants must be faculty members in a K-12 setting or in a 4-year, post-secondary institution and must never have attended an AATSP conference (prior to 2020). Stipend recipients will represent various geographic regions and levels of instruction.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE FACULTY MEMBERS
Applicants must be faculty members in a 2-year, post-secondary institution and must never have attended an AATSP conference (prior to 2020). Stipend recipients will represent various geographic regions.

MID-CAREER FACULTY MEMBERS
Applicants must be faculty members in a K-12 setting or post-secondary institution, must have been an AATSP member for at least five years and must not have attended an AATSP conference for at least three previous years. Stipend recipients will represent various geographic regions.

JUNIOR-SENIOR FACULTY MENTOR
The AATSP offers two Junior-Senior Faculty Mentor Stipends for a joint project submitted by a team composed of a junior faculty member and a senior faculty member.

ELIGIBILITY
1. Active Member of the AATSP at the time of application and for the conference year
2. Teacher of Spanish and/or Portuguese, K-16+

AATSP members are eligible to receive only one of the following: a Summer Scholarship OR a Conference Travel Stipend OR a Junior-Senior Faculty Mentor Travel Stipend OR a Travel Stipend for Research Abroad.

The AATSP is actively looking for additional financial support to help send more teachers to conference to experience in person professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF WINNERS

1. Winners must attend the AATSP Conference including special events.
2. Winners must stay in the AATSP Conference Hotel.
3. Winners will attend the Awards Ceremony during conference to be recognized as a recipient of the Conference Travel Stipend.
4. After the Conference, winners must submit receipts for personal, conference-related expenses (transportation, hotel, conference registration, and meals) for up to $500 to Kara Majchrowicz, Director of Financial Services, (kmajchrowicz@aatsp.org) by Monday, August 16, 2021.
