Is it necessary to be an AATSP member to attend the conference?
AATSP members receive a discounted registration rate, but everyone is welcome to attend!

How do I become a member of the AATSP?

Can I register for the conference on-site?
On-site registration will be located in the Ponce de Leon Foyer on the Mezzanine Level of the Ocean Tower. On-site registration will only accept online credit card payments. On-site Conference Registration hours are:

· Friday, July 6 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM

· Saturday, July 7 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM

· Sunday, July 8 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

· Monday, July 9 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

· Tuesday, July 10 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

What do I do if I lose my name badge?
Go to the AATSP Conference Registration Desk and request another badge.

What should I do if I arrive after registration has closed for the day?
Registration will open early the following morning. However, if you arrive in time for an evening event, look for an AATSP Conference Representative outside of the event location who can assist you.

Can I buy an Awards Banquet ticket for my spouse/guest?
Yes. Guest tickets are available for purchase online prior to the conference and at the conference registration desk based on available space. Check with the onsite conference registration desk if you are in need of a guest banquet ticket.

Can I receive CEUs for conference participation?
Attendees may obtain CEUs for participation in this conference. It is the responsibility of attendees to contact their district BEFORE the conference to determine necessary measures to fulfill their district professional development requirements and to receive approval for conference participation. AATSP Conference Workshop/Session Attendance form must be picked up BEFORE the sessions begin.

I did not save the online confirmation page containing my registration receipt. What should I do?
Upon successful registration, you should have received an email from, our online payment processing service. If you cannot locate that e-mail, please contact the AATSP office.

Where is the hotel located?

The Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza is located on the Condado Strip, just ten minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and five minutes from historic Old San Juan with easy access to museums and historic landmarks.

Why should I use the conference hotel?

Conference hotels provide meeting space based on an agreed-upon occupancy level. By reaching the contracted occupancy level, AATSP can keep its space rental costs lower, which in turn allows us to offer lower registration rates. Also, reserving a room at the host hotel is an ideal choice because all events occur within the hotel. Click hereto book your hotel room.

What is included in the room rate?

The Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza guestrooms include complimentary internet access, refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, in-room safes, 24-hour fitness center, and unlimited local and 888 phone calls. The hotel also features three swimming pools, tennis courts and a casino. All guestrooms are non-smoking.

Does the hotel have a business center?

Yes the conference hotel has an on-site business center that provides both copy and computer access services for a fee.

What restaurants are available in the hotel?

The hotel restaurants include Aqua Bar and grill, Café Caribe, Eight Noodle Bar, Pikayo, Starbucks and in-room dining. Conference attendees can pick up a list of area restaurants at the Conference.

Can I still register for an excursion even if I did not originally select one when I registered?

Prior to June 10, 2011 you can go to the AATSP website at AATSP Conference Page and select Purchase Guest Excursion Tickets.

What will the weather be like?
In July, you can expect San Juan, PR to be hot, sunny and humid with the temperatures in the upper 80’s. (Range 77-88F, mean 83) Because PR is a tropical island, expect quickly passing intermittent rain showers.

What should I wear?

  • Business casual is appropriate for all of the conference sessions, workshops and special events including the President’s Welcome Reception and the Awards Banquet.
  • We would also like to remind you that you will need comfortable shoes for the off-site excursions on Sunday and Tuesday since these include walking some distance. If you will be on the El Yunque Excursion you may want to bring a rain poncho, umbrella, swimsuit and/or towel.

How do we get from the airport to the hotel?

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport

Taxi Typical Minimum Charge: $16.50 Distance From Hotel: 8 miles

Bus Service Typical Minimum Charge: $1.50 Drive Time: 10 minutes


· Follow the signs to San Juan Route 26 after exiting airport terminal.

· After passing the Laguna, turn right at the first traffic light.

· Drive over the bridge, and hotel is on your left.

How can I check my e-mail?
High Speed Internet access is available throughout the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza and is also available complimentary in guestrooms.

What will the format of my panel be like?
The AATSP website has detailed guidelines for presenters, moderators, and organizers. For information, please see the 2012 Call for Proposals and Descriptions page.

What audio-visual equipment will be available in the conference session rooms?
AATSP provides each session room with a data projector and screen at no cost to the presenter. Fees for additional Audio Visual Requests can be found on our 94th Annual AATSP Conference page. Please contact the hotel directly for information and fees for Internet Access in your presentation room.

I am in a combined session. How can I get in touch with other presenters of my session?
Before the conference, you may wish to e-mail the other members of your session and agree to meet before your session. Once you are at the conference, you can ask the AATSP staff if that person has checked in at the conference registration desk. If he or she has not checked in, you may leave a message for that person on the message board near the AATSP registration desk. You may also want to call the hotel operator on one of the house phones and ask for his or her room.

Are extra copies of the program available?
The AATSP office retains a limited number of conference programs for office use only. However, we will post a PDF file of the conference program on our website, which you can then easily download and print.

How do I get a copy of the papers or PowerPoint presentations used in the sessions?
The AATSP office does not collect conference papers, PowerPoint presentations, or handouts. You will have to contact the presenters directly.

Does AATSP publish conference proceedings?
No, AATSP does not publish conference proceedings. However, paper presenters are encouraged to submit their papers to Hispania.
