The Portuguese Newsletter Submission Guidelines



The Portuguese Newsletter accepts the submission of brief creative works and news items related to books, films, and articles; conferences, lectures, and presentations that have taken place during the previous semester; upcoming conferences and events; and activities within Phi Lambda Beta chapters. Other materials, such as interviews, are published on an invitation basis only. Click here for a more detailed description of the individual sections published in The Portuguese Newsletter.

Below are basic requirements for submitting to The Portuguese Newsletter. All submissions and inquiries should be emailed to Editor M. Luci Moreira ( 

Submission Deadlines*

SPRING: February 20
FALL: September 20

*Potential contributors can submit work at any time, but to ensure consideration for the next issue of The Portuguese Newsletter, please submit by the dates above. Otherwise, accepted work will be saved for a latter issue.  

1. Format: Word, font size 12, 1.5 line space, as an attachment, or simply in the body of the email.

2: Photos: If you submit photos, please include the names of the person(s) in the photo(s) and written permission to publish their photo(s).

3. Length: We recommend news between 100150 words; longer information may also be published, depending on the subject.

4. Content: If a book, please add the full bibliographical reference; if a conference or call for a conference, papers, etc., please state the title of the conference, date, place, deadlines, and all pertinent information. Once submissions are reviewed, they may be published in the next or in subsequent issues.

5. Final publication: All articles and news are subject to editing for grammar; rarely for content, unless there are factual mistakes. We value and respect overall diversity and varied points of view.
