AATSP Member Spotlights

Member Spotlight

Every few weeks, the AATSP “spotlights” one of its members in an attempt to recognize the many ways in which AATSP members promote the study and teaching of Spanish and Portuguese at all levels of education. We invite you to read the current spotlight below. You can also click at the bottom of this page to view archived spotlights.

Cory Duclos

 Colgate University
Hamilton, NY

I am very happy to have the chance to introduce myself to the AATSP community. More than ever we need strong organizations working to improve and expand the teaching of foreign languages. I have been lucky to work with Spanish and Portuguese Review over the last few years and see the great research being done by our graduate students across the country. I am also continually impressed with how these young professionals are willing to give of their limited time to help support the journal as its editorial staff. I am looking forward, as I do each year, to spending time with the AATSP community at the annual conference.

Biography

Cory Duclos holds a Ph.D. in Spanish with a specialization in early modern Spanish literature. He is currently the director of the W.M. Keck Center for Language Study at Colgate University. Cory is also the editor of Spanish and Portuguese Review, the graduate student journal of the AATSP. Cory actively advocates for languages in his community by organizing Colgate student volunteers to teach foreign languages to students in the local elementary, middle, and high schools. He is also a recently elected member of the Board of Education in his school district, where he plans to be a strong force in promoting foreign language study.
