Are students receiving multicultural education in our schools?

World Language Leaders in Action (WLLA)

Our Hispanic Honor Society and the multicultural club leaders created a successful project this year for all World language Spanish classes students working collaboratively while creating cultural diverse programs, activities, and ideas, for students, families and the community in general.

Start with the Why of Your Project

  • Because our school need cultural diverse programs in which all students have the opportunity to explore other countries cultures and languages. Increasing interest in learning Spanish.

  • If this will be happening before, we will have a language center, we will be teaching more than 5 languages, we will be able to offer AP Spanish language classes.

  • If we will continue with this idea then we will expand students knowledge, creativity, and interest in learning a second language. We will have more families and members of the community involved in our school activities and cultural programs.

Actual Project results:

The 2019 Multicultural festival hosted by the Hispanic Honor Society and the Multicultural club.

The project were successfully developed by students and the integration of the community as a part of the Lemon Tree grant requirements with a Multicultural Festival. Students successfully created an event, working as a team the last 8 months.

This cultural events, creates respect for the universal values of human rights, empower language learners to engage and assume active roles to shape a more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive campus with the goal of intercultural understanding.

Bravo and kudos to all the wonderful teachers and students that made this multicultural event happen! Let’s use Ms. Rosa Bell’s initiative in advocating respect and global understanding through cooperative and creative efforts such as this multicultural project in Hawaii.
