CSCTFL Teacher Study Abroad Scholarship Deadline

The Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages offers several scholarships for specific professional development opportunities for its members. Opportunities are mainly for Spanish and German teachers. Applications for all scholarships due November 30, 2016.

CSCTFL has several scholarships available for its members. Click here to visit the scholarship page for complete information.


Scholarship applicants must:

Teach in the CSCTFL region (AR, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD, WI).
Be a practicing teacher with a teaching load of at least 50% in the foreign language department.
Attend the 2017 CSCTFL in Chicago, IL, March 9-11 and accept the scholarship at the Awards presentation.
Present a 60-minute session highlighting the scholarship experience (sharing information and materials) at the 2018 Central States Conference OR create an online presentation or video about the experience to post on the CSCTFL website.

Other selection criteria include:

Professional commitment and significant involvement in the teaching of a foreign language (conference/workshop participation, curriculum development) listed in a current professional resume or curriculum vitae (Note: participation in the Central States organization and/or attendance at past conferences will be advantageous and should be noted).
Evidence of how the experience will enhance his/her teaching explained in a written statement of not more than 200 words.
Evidence of institutional support in the form of a letter of endorsement from an administrator or department chairperson.
