It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the new website for the Conference of the Americas for International Education (CAIE). We hope our newly redesigned site will help enrich your CAIE experience by providing you with more user-friendly ways to get informed, participate in, and debate about key questions regarding internationalization within the Americas.

This site is the primary source for all necessary information regarding the third edition of the CAIE, which will take place October 16th to 18th, 2013, in Monterrey, Mexico, under the theme"Knowledge and Mobility: Responsibility and resources.”

While the 2010 and 2012 CAIEs marked occasions to begin exploring the question of internationalisation as a key factor in quality higher education, the CAIE Mexico 2013 organizers are thrilled to invite you to Monterrey to debate the role that key stakeholders should play in the integration of internationalization in higher education. This will be the moment to discuss the role and responsibility that university administrators, government officials, academics, students, and partners from the private and philanthropic sector have with regards to which future path internationalization should take and its subsequent contribution to society. Moreover, in order to better respond to the challenges currently facing this sector, we will examine what types of resources are needed, be they technological, human or financial, and what sorts of strategic alliances should be conceived and implemented.

The CAIE 2013 will represent an opportunity for collaboration and interaction between over 600 attending key industry stakeholders to discuss the benefits of internationalized higher education. This is the moment to better define the role played by all actors: from government officials, managers, researchers, professors, students and members of the private sector to human resource personnel, financiers, and IT experts. It will also provide the opportunity to express your views on central themes, such as the importance of strategic alliances within internationalization, and how internationalization can be resourced in an era of tight budgets and increasing costs. An event that combines discussions, plenary sessions, participatory workshops, parallel sessions, and strategic networking, CAIE Mexico 2013 is not to be missed by those ready to discuss the challenges of internationalization and create – or strengthen – cooperative academic partnerships. Mark your calendar and plan to attend the third edition of the Conference of the Americas on International Education and join in the discussion alongside leaders, experts and managers dedicated to the improvement of higher education in the Americas.
