Chapter of the Year and Activity of the Year Awards

CHAPTER OF THE YEAR and ACTIVITY OF THE YEAR AWARDS

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION 
  

The Sociedad Hispánica de Amistad (SHA) Chapter of the Year and Best Activity of the Year Awards are given to chapters that exemplify the service mission of the SHA.

The Chapter of the Year Award is given to the chapter that has completed the most exceptional projects in the three service categories of the SHA:

  • Service to school
  • Service to community
  • Ambassadorship

The winner of the Chapter of the Year Award will receive an honorarium of $100 and a certificate suitable for framing.

The Activity of the Year Award is given to the chapter that has completed the most significant service project in any one of the three service categories outlined above.

The winner of the Best Activity of the Year Award will receive an honorarium of $50 and a certificate suitable for framing.

 

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION FOR THE AWARDS

  1. Review the activities that your SHA Chapter has completed during the 2015-2016 school year.
  2. Select areas to highlight that will show your chapter’s full range of participation in the SHA and its service mission.
  3. Decide whether you want to apply for the Chapter of the Year Award or the Activity of the Year Award.
  4. Submit documentation of the chapter service projects along with the completed application form.
  5. Documentation may be submitted in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, an electronic scrapbook, a Word document, or other electronic format that demonstrates why the chapter should receive the award.
  6. The documentation may include descriptions of the projects, photos of chapter projects, newspaper or newsletter articles, statements or letters from students, parents, administrators, or other faculty members.  
  7. All documentation must be submitted electronically. 
    • If you are submitting documentation as a PowerPoint slide show, use a maximum of 15 slides. 
    • If you are submitting documentation as a Word document, use a maximum of 10 pages.

SUBJECT LINE: Name of Sponsor and Award applying for  (EXAMPLE: M. García Chapter of the Year)

DEADLINE:  Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:59pm Eastern Time

NOTIFICATION: Winners will be notified by mid-June 2016

CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT: All application materials received will be confirmed. If you do not receive an email message confirming receipt of your application materials within 72 hours, please re-send.
