Summary of CV
Foreign language learning and
teaching have always driven my professional goals. I have taught in the public education setting
for 10 years. In that time I have taught
all levels of Spanish, including honors and AP courses. Professional development and growth are
important to me in growing myself, my students and my colleagues. I have presented at the AATSP National
Conference twice in collaboration with other secondary and university level
educators. I have presented at our state
level foreign language conference numerous times in addition to my position as
a Board member. I also serve as a
sponsor and past director for SHH, including organizing a state level
conference for SHH students and sponsors.

Statement of Candidacy
I am honored to be running in this election for the Executive
Council as your Secondary Representative. It is a privilege to help colleagues grow
professionally and have new opportunities! Serving on this Executive Council, I
can continue the work I began 10 years ago when I entered into Secondary
Education. Each year I coordinate and administer the
National Spanish Exam at multiple levels, I have sponsored our chapter of
Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica for 8 years, I have served as State Director for
SHH and on the Board of Directors for our local AATSP Chapter.
dedicated to promoting language learning and teaching, which starts with our
focus on students, and students at any level.
I have taught all levels of Spanish during my career at both secondary
and university levels, so I understand the value of professional development
and professional organizations in ensuring success for our students. As an AATSP member and chapter board member I
have worked with teachers in my school and district to recruit not only new
members but leaders as well.
Collaboration among elementary, secondary, and higher education
professionals is extremely valuable to our continuing success. I have presented at the AATSP conference with
both secondary and university level colleagues in the past. Serving on the AATSP Executive Board will
allow me to continue that commitment to help in providing quality professional
opportunities for colleagues at any level.
Foreign language education is my passion! There is great benefit
for our students with collaboration from the primary to secondary to university
levels. Working on the Executive Council of AATSP, I commit to active
involvement with total dedication, innovative solutions to improve involvement
and communications, and a focus on you and your students.
