The ACTFL Program
Standards for the Preparation of Foreign Language Teachers that were developed
in 2002 in collaboration with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE) are now due for revision. Our Teacher Preparation Standards
were first developed in 2002, but NCATE has adopted new principles and the ACTFL
standards must now align with those new principles.
ACTFL and the Standards Collaborative Board appointed a task
force to develop a draft of the revised standards and now it is time to get input
from the language field. It is important to get broad representation from the
field, so please use this link to view the new standards and provide your comments:
http://www.actfl.org/revstandards.
There you will find the revised standards and a questionnaire.
Please complete your review as soon as possible and no later
than June 1 so that your input may be included in the ACTFL report
to NCATE. If you have already taken the survey, please disregard this message. Thank you for your participation.
