CAL's Foreign Language Survey Results Available

Friday, December 18, 2009
Are U.S. schools preparing students to become competent world citizens able to communicate in more than one language? To answer this question, the Center for Applied Linguistics conducted a national survey of foreign language instruction in elementary and secondary schools.

We are pleased to announce that the survey results are now available. The publication, Foreign Language Teaching in U.S. Schools: Results of a National Survey, provides detailed information on current patterns and shifts over time in five key areas: amount of foreign language instruction in schools, languages and types of programs offered, foreign language curriculum, teacher certification and professional development, and effects of education reform on language instruction.

We invite you to visit our Web site to download a free Executive Summary of the report. The complete report can be purchased at CAL’s online store .
