US Department of Education Names New Deputy Assistant Secretary

On Monday, October 19 the US Department of Education announced that a new Deputy Assistant Secretary for International and Foreign Language Education has been named. The creation of this position has been endorsed by Joint National Committee for Languages (JNCL) and its member organizations. Andre Winston Lewis was named to the position. Lewis, with a background in Russian Studies at the University of California - Berkley and a graduate of Boston University School of Law, also has extensive political experience in California and in Washington, DC and international experience with the State Department.
