The National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) is soliciting proposals for participation in STARTALK, a federally funded initiative to enhance national capacity in critical-need languages.  In 2017, the NFLC will provide funding for summer programs in Arabic, Chinese, Dari, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and/or Urdu. Funding will be available for both teacher professional development programs and K-16 student learning programs.

Awards for independent teacher or student programs range from $50,000 to $90,000, based on the number of participants and the type of program being offered; awards are up to $112,500 for combination teacher-student programs.
