STARTALK Portuguese Teacher Training (PTT) program
The STARTALK Portuguese Teacher Training (PTT) program
is designed to offer an opportunity for those embarking on a Portuguese
teaching career, and those already teaching Portuguese as a second,
foreign or heritage language to improve their pedagogical skills. All
instructors will be trained in standards-based instruction at all levels
(K-16).
Participants earn Professional Development Points by Boston University and a Certificate of Completion.
Main activities and timeline:
Phase I: Online course, June 01 – 23, 2012
Phase II: On campus, June 24 – 27, 2012
Phase III: Practicum, June 28, 2012,
Phase IV: Follow-up Video Conference, October 2012
Eligibility:
18 selected participants who have native, near-native, or advanced
proficiency in European and Brazilian Portuguese. Must have a minimum of
a bachelor’s degree.
Time and Place: Pre-program on-line seminar June
01-23, on-site workshop and hands-on training June 24-28 (8:30 AM-3:00
PM, Boston University Campus).
